The Board of Directors of Hilburn & Harper, Ltd., Attorneys at Law, is pleased to congratulate attorney and partner, Megan L. Wells, on her election as president of the Pulaski County Bar Association for the upcoming bar year.
Wells was elected May 23, 2024. Her term officially begins July 1, 2024, and will run through June 30, 2025. Wells said she is very proud and excited to begin her term.
“I think the Pulaski County Bar Association is such an important organization for our profession,” Wells said. “I appreciate that members of the legal community have faith in my ability to continue to grow and improve the organization this coming year.”
Asked about the goals she hopes to focus on during her term, Wells said one of her major initiatives will be supporting opportunities for networking, while ensuring that the organization is bringing relevant and useful information and learning opportunities to attorneys in a wide variety of practice areas.
“I want to improve the social aspect of the PCBA so it’s an avenue for attorneys to meet other attorneys both inside and outside their practice area,” she said. “Having a wide range of contacts to call on for any issue that may arise is so important.”
A native of Ruston, La., Wells received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in 2010, then moved to Little Rock. After working two years at a law firm to gain legal experience, she enrolled at UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law. In 2014 while still in law school, Wells joined Hilburn & Harper as a clerk, earning her law degree with Cum Laude honors the following year.
After passing the Arkansas Bar Exam, Wells accepted a position as a family law attorney with Hilburn & Harper. Her dedication and hard work for clients and children impacted by divorce led to her being named a partner with the firm in May 2021. Wells said her time with the Hilburn & Harper has prepared her well for her new position as PCBA president.
“Our firm practices in multiple areas of the law,” she said. “It’s helped me see how important having colleagues in various legal areas is to guiding and assisting an attorney in practice. That’s why the networking aspect of the PCBA is so important to me.” The practice of family law has also shown Wells how different areas of law commingle, which is why Wells wants to continue to improve and expand the continuing education offered by the Association.
Wells is a member of the Arkansas Bar Association, and a certified Attorney Ad Litem. Prior to her election as President, she served on the board of the Pulaski County Bar Association. Among other awards, she was named to AY Magazine’s Best Lawyers 2022 list and Soiree’s Best Lawyers of 2021. In her spare time, she’s an avid reader and frequent traveler.
The firm wishes Megan all the best during her tenure as president of the Pulaski County Bar Association and applauds her commitment to helping grow and nurture the legal profession in Central Arkansas.
