James M McHaney, Jr. retired from Hilburn & Harper, Ltd. on October 13th after 49 years of practicing law.
Throughout his years practicing Employment Law and General Commercial Litigation, Jim handled well over one hundred EEOC claims and defended employers in lawsuits brought under the 1964 Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. He also had extensive experience in representing both corporate plaintiffs and defendants in business disputes, including breach of contracts, violation of restrictive covenants, unfair trade practices and banking practices.
Jim was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating from high school, he attended Columbia University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree while majoring in political science with an emphasis on foreign policy. After college, he attended the Georgetown University Law Center where he obtained his law degree.
